pena deportiva vs se eivissa on saturday

finally gone though the freakin silly amounts of photos i took at yesterdays derby game between our local town (santa eulalia) and the capital: ibiza town

it was a good game but once again the bars ran out of beer after half time – either that or they are doing it deliberately. i did notice a very large guardia civil presence which i was surprised about but maybe thts because it was the first derby between these 2 island teams in this division

anyway it was fun and all the photos and report on our main ibiza blog

(i have to admit that i have been surprised by the amount of very cute spanish women attending these footy games but i’m not complaining)

the penalty and first goal:

football of both varieties

great result this afternoon – i was worried that spurs might nick it but as soon as ronaldo scored i think it was game over

i’m going to try and watch the superbowl tonight. i first got into the nfl when channel 4 used to show it and i can remember the raiders win in about 84 i think which got me into it. havent seen many since ive been in spain though – it was bad enough when i was in the uk because of the time difference – add another hour and its worse – i usually had to check the scores the next morning as by the 3rd qtr i was invariably pissed & asleep on the sofa. also i think prince is doing the halftime show so that should be interesting

i watched an awful film last night by wesley snipes called the detonator, i say watched, thats not really true since i gave up about half way through

i thought it was about time i ran a full virus scan on the machine today – 660,000 objects scanned and 6 hours later, nothing… good news i spose ;)

6 weeks till i go home to ibiza – cant wait

work, aka a 4 letter word

why is it that when you dont know whats happening next, 5 things turn up at the same time ?

2 weeks ago i was scrabbling around and wasnt sure what i was going to be doing – i now have 4 sites and a ton of shit to do & all has happened in the space of 3 days… – 2 major things have happened in the last 24 hours

this afternoon i got a call out of the blue, this was after them leaving me in the shit a few months ago (after working for them for 9 months), about resurrecting a project i had been asked to do but they had terminated abruptly

one i want to do on site, the other i can hopefully do remotely, thereby killing 2 birds with one stone and everyone wins

now all i need is rooney to start scoring (in the league) and my pitiful display in the f.f.league this month will take an upturn – his chip against james today was sublime

this week has been an office and 30 rock free week so ive been catching up on cbc’s intelligence series and its getting better – though how the main player has been allowed to get away with the stuff he has done is beyond me (another blog stream of consciousness on this subject at some time methinks)

ive spent most of today (pre utd game) installing wordpress on a server so that users can have their own wordpress on it – jesus – talk about learning curve – soon it’ll all become obvious

at this point i must mention noklog – rather than try and explain it:

“NOKLOG is a proof-of-concept publishing system for mobile phone web browsers which support file uploading via the built-in mobile web browser.

NOKLOG recommends using the Nokia N-Series range of handsets. Some of these models support built-in Wifi connectivity and GPS. NOKLOG would like to support the use of GPS to automatically ‘geotag’ posts made and accompany them with an interactive map.

NOKLOG supports posting and podcasting of images, audio and video – all of which are automatically transcoded to provide the greatest accessibility on the Web.

Eventually I will be getting it to also optionally crosspost your content to your WordPress, Blogger, Typepad or Friendster blog and even send your images to flickr and videos to YouTube!

A mobile rendering of this page will be available very soon to view on the mobile browsers..”

if you want to know what everyone will be doing on their mobile phone in 5 years time – this is the bloke to watch

tv, film and footy

do i ever write about anything else ?

a quick blog since i cant be arsed to write a diatribe

  • the office wasnt as belly aching funny this week but was still great – i think andy and karen are history, shame, but thats the way the cookie crumbles
  • 30 rock was great – i dont see how how alec baldwin won a globe but he was good – only liz could finally get someone she was attracted to, to end up being “family” – i was really hoping she’d end up getting a good shag
  • have started watching a cbc series called intelligence – after the pilot and 2 episodes in i like it – the good news is that i think episode 12 went out last week so ive got plenty of time to catch up
  • pysch is back on tv next week i think
  • watched idiocracy last night – if you are not a fan or dont like mike judge films then it may not be yer cup of tea – however if you like the piss taken out of the inevitable dumbing down of the u.s then this er bert is your one….
  • its not often i want the pool to win but today a 2-0 over chelski was nice – it wouldve been better if drogba had at least got a goal so my competitors in the fantasy footy would have no clean sheet and i would have got a goal scorer – on that note i’ve had a mare – goals flying into my defenders, red cards, no goals – bleedin useless these footbal players….
  • turns out some la galaxy players are starting to get a little miffed at beckhams wages – hardly surprising when you work out that he will earn on average 500 times a week what the rest of his team mates do
  • at isohunt at least there was a mini blog about what was happening – or not – as of today theres nothing up at all…

i am not predicting anything about tomorrows game – i am going to have chewed most of my nails down to the quick by 1pm let alone when it starts at 5…. i hope we walk it but at least the worst case scenario is still 6 pts ahead of chelski >(

beckham, mls & pool

we lost at pool – again – the highly.trained.athletes are crap at pool – although we were 4-0 down and came back to 4-4 before tossing it away and losing 6-4

now here is my gripe about that fuckwit beckham – he was ok for us but the circus surrounding him got too much for utd – he WASNT the only person in the team, now madrid have found that out and rather than say going back to the uk or other european teams who were after him (hes only 31) and proving himself hes’ done a runner to hollywood… “not for the money” – its only 50m$ a year – does he seriously think anyone believes him ?

anyway, with becks going to mls i thought i’d have a look at the mls

1. all of the mls websites for each of the sides are the bleedin same apart from a couple – those 2 though have the same design
2. most of the grounds are sponsored and have some great names……not..

now i know ive blogged about this before but would we seriously accept “pizza hut park”, the “home depot center” (which is something like ikea, argos etc), “toyota park”, “red bull park”

i know we have the jjb stadium, emirates stadium, the reebok, but it just seems so over the top – fair play though to houston & salt lake though it seems they were grounds that were done before mls turned up

la galaxy (new home of beckham) and deportivo chivas share the same ground – all 25,000 of them *laughs* – hows becks going to feel when he strides out at home games to 25,000 ppl when old trafford had 65,000 (now 76k) and the bernabéu & nou camp 80 odd thousand – most of the attendances from last year in the mls would make most championship sides embarressed (real madrid still has becks front & center of their website btw)

i looked at each of the mls sides and checked out their “stadium”

chicage fire – toyota park
kansas city wizards – The 2007 home stadium is yet to be determined
new york red bulls – Red Bull Park
new england revolution – Gillette Stadium
Club Deportivo Chivas USA – The Home Depot Center

try out for the mls
The Colorado Rapids have announced the date for the club’s 2007 Open Tryouts, which will be held on Saturday, February 10, from 11:30am-3:30pm outdoors at the team’s training facility in Westminster, Colorado.
The Rapids invite any interested players from Colorado and around the world for the opportunity to be scouted by the Rapids to potentially join the team for the third season in a row. Any players selected from this tryout will immediately gear up to travel with the Rapids to one of their preseason trips during the month of February.
The Colorado Rapids Tryouts are open to aspiring male players between the ages of 18 and 30 years of age. The $50 registration fee includes a t-shirt and two tickets for the Rapids’ 2007 home opener at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
The deadline to register is Friday, February 2. Participants are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible because there are only 150 available spots and the tryouts have sold out the last 2 years in a row.

huh? this is a major league side and you hold PUBLIC trials and get people to pay for the privilege?

fc dallas – Pizza Hut Park

houston dynamo – Wilhelmina Robertson, the wife of Ed Smith, who participated in the MLS discussions, was president of the Cullen Foundation for 50 years. Wilhelmina also personally contributed a half million dollars to update the stadium. The stadium was named after her former husband.

fair play nice to see

la galaxy – home depot center shared with chivas

from their website:
Sections 137 and 138 are designated Galaxy supporters sections. Fans who sit in this sections typically stand, sing, chant, and enthusiastically and loudly support the Galaxy throughout the game. Please contact a Galaxy representative at 877-3GALAXY (877-342-5299) if you are considering sitting in or near these two sections.

BRILLIANT – why would you NOT stand, sing, chant and “enthusiastically” support your bloody team ? what happens if you get a ticket not in section 137/8 – are you allowed to do anything ?

*shakes head*

real salt lake – The stadium underwent a $50 million renovation beginning in May 1997, which was completed in September 1998. $10 million of the renovation was donated by Spencer Eccles, through the George S. and Dolores Dore Eccles Foundations. The rest of the funds were raised from private donations, bonds, and the Salt Lake Olympic Committee.

again, fair play

average attendenace in the mls in 2006 was between 8-18,000 only 3 above 22k, 1x 90k, 60k & a 50k odd – quite a number were below 10,000 people – cf: 2006 schedule compare that to the attendances in the premiership (or some championship teams)

some ejit from mls reckoned that it [mls] could be one of the best in the world – not in our lifetime….

i love the nfl and mlb (cant be arsed with the nba) but someone there has to realise that “bigging up” “soccer” stateside is just not happening

the more i looked at the main mls site, the more i saw cannon fodder and great material for soccer am and boston goals ;)

employee of the month

watched this tonight – dont ask me why but i enjoyed this film – pretty good soundtrack, nice sarcy bits, a bit cheesy, guy gets the girl etc but good fun – maybe the 3-1 win over villa this afternoon and a bottle of red may have put the edge on it – glad i watched it though.

all this talk about if mourinho is going is great – i cant believe terry has come out with this: “We don’t want Jose to go and if it takes five or six of the senior players to tell them so, then that’s what we’re prepared to do,” – this is basically admitting that there is something going on behind the scenes at chelsea. this does unsettle a team and is fine by me

beckham again

i love the beebs footy gossip page right at the bottom this made me laugh out loud – or lol should i say ?
“LA Galaxy’s new signing David Beckham can look forward to playing at Pizza Hut Park next season – the home of FC Dallas.”

i know we have the emirates stadium, the reebok, jjb etc but honestly – “pizza hut park” ? *shakes head*

second life, beckham, the office, iphone

bloody electricity – i thought i’d be smart and open up a note pad for an hour and copy and paste stuff into it which i’d later put into this ere blog – great idea except when the circuit my pc is on trips and i havent saved it.. pillock
anyway, i’ll try and remember what i’d put

David Beckham insists his move to LA Galaxy is not financially driven. yeah right… his options are either seria a footy or spurs or the arse – neither of which are going to up his salary, plus he goes back to all the media rubbish. so whats his other option? oh yeah 30 million quid a year for 5 years in los angeles and an adoring press – i bet his wife loved the idea of moving to l.a. who’s he trying to kid ?

looking forward to a new office and 30 rock later

ive been looking out for smokin aces on torrents since it looks like just the sort of film i’d like (which reminds me i saw the trailer for oceans 13 yesterday – now that looks good – hope its more like the first than the second one), anway johnny ming posted on bloghud about a new event on nbc island – that got me so i wandered over to virtualnbc.com and found this: “win your share of L$1m by becoming second lifes ultimate assassin” – “Beginning January 12th, players can join Smokin’ Aces: Second Life® Assassin by visiting the Nomad Hotel in Second Life® to pick up game instructions, a hitlist, and weaponry. Think you can smoke Buddy “Aces” Israel? First, you gotta rub out the competition.“.

sounds cool – of course it will mean another half a million signups….

i have no opinion on the new apple iphone – i hate mobile phones – maybe when i’m rich i’ll get one of those swish smart & sleek 400quid phones that makes your tea for you and rave about it and wonder how i possibly managed before with just a silly little phone that can text, has an alarm (for timing when the poker blinds should go up) and a calculator – until then, no thanks…

i have a hangover for the first time in ages – and a cold – i think they are related..

oh jesus – i listen to 102.1 the edge religously cos the dean blundell show is er brilliant – its a toronto radio station that also broadcasts on the net – their sports report has just mentioned beckham going to la galaxy – normally the only thing they mention are the local hockey results…
