hmmm.. i’m a big fan of 24 but the new interim 2 hour special i watched last night left me underwhelmed.

it was set between 3 & 5pm but it felt like an overlong crap tv episode – it had every cliche known to man including black dictators, kids being forceably conscripted and a “fall of saigon” helicopter scene

a bit crap in all – hopefully the 7th series which starts jan 10th (i think) will be better… it cant be worse

tonight is the 2 hour 24 special “redemption” which bridges season 6 and season 7 – cant fookin wait till tomorrow

24 season 7 starts in january and i cant bleedin wait… thankfully theres a one off movie on nov 23rd which apparently bridges season 6 and 7…

the office, 30 rock, 24 etc

just when i thought the office was getting, shall we say, a little lax, halpert comes up and restores my faith in human nature. the opening sequence was brilliant – i thought jim’s piss taking of dwight had gone but the whole episode was genius.

if you havent seen it, its worth waiting for dwight at the end – rainn wilson is superb

30 rock is again back to “normal service is resumed” – if only because tina fey is showing a load more cleavage than previous episodes – another great episode

i dont know what im going to do when 24 finishes in 2? weeks – i think both the office & 30 rock are a couple of episodes away from season finales as well – what am i going to do ?

when are eureka, intelligence etc coming back ? answers on a postcard

i have to find a couple of decent tv series before the footy season ends to last me though the summer – though looking at the summer “blockbuster” season theres going to be a few films to look forward to

planet rock & the wire, 24

i took a break today from indie 103.1 and decided to revisit planet rock. its a uk station that basically does what it says on the tin – ie early maiden, rainbow, tracks off of floyds animals, scorpions, ive just heard saxon, strangers in the night, some zeppelin album tracks and now ufo doctor doctor…

the great thing is thats its rarely “singles” – the majority are the album tracks that we all like but never get played on the radio

now nicky horne has just started and he’s got 2 new exclusive sabbath tracks and then later the whole of side 2 of w.y.w.h – any station that plays that gets my vote – and its online

i grew up on this stuff and it makes a great change to hear it

what would be ideal is a mixture of this and indie 103.1 then i could hear rush, followed by the cure, smiths, belly, motorhead, floyd, death cab cutie, silversun pickups, rainbow etc

i´m now over midway thru series 2 of the wire after starting it a couple of days ago – i LOVE this series – much like 24, it takes 3-4episodes to get into it and then it starts hooking you in and i end up watching 3-4 episodes back to back. the first series i think it took about 2-3 weeks to watch the first 4-5 episodes – it was probably about 4-5 days to finish the rest

i’ve been hopeless at the jack bauer kill counter;so far so i’m going for uno point this week

looks like this is my last week on the spanish mainland before i go home – no doubt theres going to be a few beers sunk at the weekend

hot fuzz, golf, ibiza and the problem of being britney spears

how can i even begin to say how absolutely brilliant hot fuzz is… if you liked snakes on a plane, shaun of the dead (& point break or bad boys II – you’ll get the last film references after you see the film) and understand brit humour then this is the film for you… it takes the piss superbly without being too obvious ie airplane, scary movie etc

some parts you just go “wtf” which is always a very good thing in my book – cant praise it enough

played golf today – i havent played for 2 months – in fact i havent hit a ball in er 2 months. our golf society had 2 divisions – gold and silver – one low handicappers, the silver is the, well high handicappers – yours truly is a high handicapper since ive been playing golf for the best part of about 18 months in total. today a milestone. i won the silver division today after we played altorreal and scored 29 points (stableford) – i won a 20€ golf voucher which i will put towards buying a new pitching wedge which i lost at roda golf last nov i think. typically, after doing well, i’m buggering off the mainland in 3 weeks to go to ibiza where they have one course that seems to be more expensive than the ones down here – and everyone knows the courses down here are expensive… good side is since im not going to be here i dont get cut on my handicap in the society

we’re at barrys bar for darts on weds (not going to even bother thinking about the pool tomorrow) – they are a point ahead of us with a game in hand so the highly.trained.athletes need to focus – then another darts game on thurs – so if all things go well.. well lets see….

not many weekends now till i return to ibiza – cant wait to see everyone – not looking forward to the summer though – i’m not a big fan of ibiza in the summer – sorry

ive gone for a null point (said in crap eurovision french accent) for the jack bauer kill counter tonight – but as i pointed out – he’ll probably waste half l.a. now….

cant think of anything techy or interesting links to anything techy etc so – whats the britney haircut all about? she needed the attention and i guess thats a dramatic way of doing it. i do feel sorry sometimes for people like that because they are built up and up by the press (because it help sells their newspapers/tv shows etc) and at the same time they can be spectacularly dumped and deliberatly crapped on by the media for the very same reason that it sells.. ads, papers, increases ratings etc

its very very hard, if not impossible, for anyone who is not a “celeb” to understand what it must be like – i wouldnt have a clue – its very easy to say “i’ll have the problem if you give me the money” – but realistically – how many rich famous celebs dont “fuck up” ?……. (for “fuck up” you could also read “act like everyone else”….)

btw – chelsea dagger is now starting to really get in my head – i take back what i said – i love it – what does surprise me is i havent heard anything from sam roberts, kill hannah etc on indie 103.1 – i hope its not because of an anti canadian bias

played poker last night and came second – woke up this morning with a hangover – oh well…

every week i take part in the kill counter and it always brings a smile to my face – and how anyone could not vote for kim bauer in the missb4b contest is beyond me…..

24 review & english footy

i wish i could write a better review of monday’s episode of 24.. but i cant – so here it is: mondays 24 review

so england lost tonight to spain in a friendly. im sure that the uk press will be calling for maclarens head tomorrow. but then england has always given their head coach an impossible task – until england win the world cup every england manager is going to get untold grief – and then when we do eventually win the world cup its going to be worse… they say that the england managers job is a poisened chalice – i wouldnt take it if you offered me the moon….

thankfully moving back to ibiza will take me away from the english influence we get where i live – there are probably more english here than in any town in england

ive been working on some new stuff for the new site i’ll be doing over in ibiza and i’m REALLY looking forward to seeing the reaction to it
