I knew I had this somewhere but I had forgotten about it. I was looking for something else and bingo found it. To my knowledge only 5 people have a copy of this. Me, Malcolm Dunbar (he was head of U2’s Mother Records label at the time I gave him a copy), the original sent to Armitage, the copy in Phonograms archive storage and obviously mrs feldman.
Basically I had resigned from polygram (now universal) for the 3rd and (i thought) final time but polygram didnt want me to leave so they asked me would i go back to my old office and do some other work – fuck it ok then… Part of my previous job was summarising artist contracts – ie reducing a 50 page artist contract to its bare bones reality. So they said we have a large storeroom full of our old artist contracts, do you want to go through them? fuck it why not – I was intrigued to see how artist contracts had changed and i was just sitting around in the office doing nothing anyway.
I found this. To put it in context a year later Page joined the Yardbirds with Jeff Beck (on EMI), 3 years later Led Zep were formed on rivals Atlantic records.

Update: i thought about doing a little digging on jack baverstock – it turns out jimmy page is not the only fuck up:
December 1963: “The Ravens audition for Philips’ chief A&R manager, Jack Baverstock, who rejects them. They will soon make contact with American independent producer, Shel Talmy. They will also change their name to “The Kinks” – ooops !
