back in ibiza

so been back for now early 3 weeks – its a tad weird – its like 4 years never happened.

. cant believe the amount of work ive done on the new site www.ibizaa-z.com – i have so many plans for it is ridiculous – the whole town is taking about it and were doing a “launch” party for it on sunday at the local beach where a bunch of mates are doing a live gig anyway. we’ve got a 3g moby usb to get the net for the laptop which is going to be hooked up to a fuck off 72″ rear projector tv – i shall probably spend most of my time at the bar while my mate does all the pressing the flesh – until called into be the island “geek”

. indie 103.1 – please change the ads – when you listen all day to a radio station hearing the *same* ads every 20 mins gets really annoying…. however since half my day i’m listening to the graveyard shift its not too bad and jones’s jukebox is worth the wait for

. strike on iran ? theres a guys blog i read who i thought last week gave a really good synopsis of why the us is going to strike iran – i thought the past 2 weeks of 24 have shown how ironically realistic that prospect is

todays bbq

as a penence for being here a week a good friend had a bbq in my honour.. i was supposed to do a load of roast potatoes, but i wasnt actually told when my bbq was supposed to happen. i went out in the morning and ended up with a kilo or so of decent potatoes and half a kilo of spanish sausages & mince meat. about 30 mins later im told that the bbq is er now… ah…

we walked out and on the way to the car immediately ran into 2 people who came to see us (& wanted a chat) – so we decamp to the bar next to us… 45 mins later off to my bbq… until we get stuck behind a jcb & then remember we left the ipod station behind… back…. an hour later after i’m supposed to be at the bbq in my honour i’m there.

we’re really impressed with what the lost mountain orchestra have plans for…. at some point shortly we’ll have the videos and i’m sure they’ll have stuff for you to hear

ive got a ton of ideas to do and very little time to do it in… oh well….

fascinating conversation between jonesy & pete – hes come up with a brilliant idea. hes launching a website that basically you put in details about yourself and you’ll get a bit of music uniqually generated from that data. he then talked about that that music could be used in new songs or a competition to find the best music – since its done uniqually anyone could win – knowing me i’d get a duff crap thing – but theorectically you could end up with your music used in the next nike ad….

i was hanging around waiting to go out and listening to jones jukebox on indie 103.1 as hes at sxsw & had the stooges and pete townsend on. 40 mins later im still here trying to justify sitting in front of the monitor cos the conversation between jonesy & pete is brilliant…

Finally back in Ibiza

After 4 years away i’m back at “home”. Its been strange to come back – not much has really changed, the usual faces are still here but its been fun catching up on who’s still here, who’s left and why etc. I really miss kara though

I’m all set up in the flat now with the broadband, hooked the pc up to the tv etc and so theres not really anything different from last week other than i’m in ibiza and not the mainland and the weather is about the same.

Theres a bar i used to go in which has the footy, does pool & darts night as well as a poker night, and a few others that show all the footy so i’m sorted….

planet rock & the wire, 24

i took a break today from indie 103.1 and decided to revisit planet rock. its a uk station that basically does what it says on the tin – ie early maiden, rainbow, tracks off of floyds animals, scorpions, ive just heard saxon, strangers in the night, some zeppelin album tracks and now ufo doctor doctor…

the great thing is thats its rarely “singles” – the majority are the album tracks that we all like but never get played on the radio

now nicky horne has just started and he’s got 2 new exclusive sabbath tracks and then later the whole of side 2 of w.y.w.h – any station that plays that gets my vote – and its online

i grew up on this stuff and it makes a great change to hear it

what would be ideal is a mixture of this and indie 103.1 then i could hear rush, followed by the cure, smiths, belly, motorhead, floyd, death cab cutie, silversun pickups, rainbow etc

i´m now over midway thru series 2 of the wire after starting it a couple of days ago – i LOVE this series – much like 24, it takes 3-4episodes to get into it and then it starts hooking you in and i end up watching 3-4 episodes back to back. the first series i think it took about 2-3 weeks to watch the first 4-5 episodes – it was probably about 4-5 days to finish the rest

i’ve been hopeless at the jack bauer kill counter;so far so i’m going for uno point this week

looks like this is my last week on the spanish mainland before i go home – no doubt theres going to be a few beers sunk at the weekend

rockitnews.com ad on indie 103.1 and other associated stuff

along with the surfjunkie jeff advert, the current ad for the rockit news site is really starting to basically piss me off …. it goes along the lines of “news about bands you like, news about bands you should like, news about bands you hate and news about bands you should hate”

now call me old fashioned here, but if someone tells me theres a band i should hate or should like i am not going to trust the source to tell me anything about something i might like – are readers of their magazine that shallow that they’ll swallow that ad? – maybe thats a rhetorical question….

<and today the early morning show re-ran yesterdays entire interview with christina ricci as though it was today – huh? this is about 30 minutes of radio airtime – the one saving grace was steve jones’ interview later with baby doll gibson – the woman who was nicked about 8 years ago as a madam with a high profile a-list black book – theres been plenty of blogs about her in the last few days as she ’s just released a book naming and talking 20 of her clients since the court records have been released to the public domain. jonesy was one mentioned and it was great radio to hear him talk to her about it – apparently he’s got the biggest dick out of them all…

im gutted – i went to festimad (in madrid) a couple of years ago and its a brilliant 2 day festival  – a bit like reading except the facilities are far better – everyone from my favourite bar  goes there every year so theres always about 15-20 people going in one long convoy up to madrid

typically one of my favourite bands ever decides to play this year just as i move back to ibiza – bleedin bloody arse – maybe if i win the lottery (once) or make a ton of cash i’ll be able to afford to go
