its official – lille are idiots

Lille have confirmed they will continue their appeal against Uefa’s decision to allow Manchester United’s goal to stand in their stormy Champions League clash.

unbelievable! where does they think this will end ? i cant believe that they appealed against the original decision in the first place, let alone appealing against the eufa decision that their original appeal was invalid and that “er by the way we’re going to investigate your policing, player behaviour” etc

do they really honestly think that eufa are going to overturn a match over a referee decision ?? quick free kicks happen all the time if the team asks. does this club want to be chucked out ?

its completely ridiculous – going by lille’s argument, if there is a technical breach of the rules in ANY game (lets say champions league, european or world cup games) then a team will be able to go back and i assume, get the game replayed – absolute havoc – its not going to happen – i dont like saying this but stupid fuckin french idiots

another comment i loved: ” The French club also reiterated their players were not attempting a ‘walk-off’ when they made their way to the sideline moments after the goal was allowed to stand.”

right so er the fact that the lille coach was waving his players to the sideline and that most of them went to the sideline had nothing to do with ” not attempting a ‘walk-off’” unbelievable

all they are trying to do is deflect press away from the abysmal policing – at one point lille blamed the forgeries on man utd because they had sent their tickets out to fans too early !! – why on earth would man utd be to blame for the ease of making forgeries ? – the whole thing beggars belief

if that had happened at an english ground then it would be far far different (i seem to recall saying something similar a few weeks ago – in relation to the italian league) – i hope lille get stuffed at ot and then banned from europe for 5 years

someone needs to tell lille to shut up and do their talking on the pitch – i’m gobsmacked by the way theyve behaved

the oscars & new ibiza site

i’m really pleased the departed won so much at the oscars - i can honestly say its one of my favourite films over the past few years and about time that Martin Scorsese won an oscar – top film…

cant remember whether i blogged about it but we drew at darts on weds & lost on thursday for the first time – not that bad as the leaders also lost so were still a point behind but one extra game played

Vista´s UK price, imdb change & the office

It does really make you wonder how microsoft can justify the price difference in vista – i know weve had price differences between the uk & the u.s. for years but when we’re in 2007 – microsoft doesnt have to put a ton of cargo on a boat that takes 2 weeks to sail from the us to the uk – with the ease of software distribution through miriad ways – arguments about overheads etc dont really wash

to be honest i dont give too much of a sh*t for myself since (xxxx xxx xxx xxx) – 5th amendment – but if you do you may want to go here and sign the no.10 petition

on a completely different not ive noticed imdb.com are now doing a “If you enjoyed this title, our database also recommends” – about bleedin time – its probably a godsend for anyone who uses imdb to check out films to d/l

as usual the office and 30 rock were funny – we need more pranking on dwight though – and his stuff at the party was just a little stretching his character – i think its pretty easy now to predict that jim & pam are going to go off into the sunset (something is going to happen with pam, jim & roy – ie roy goes to whack jim and pam gets in the way and roy hits pam instead – type thing…. sort of… possibly… whatever..)

i watched ghost rider tonight after i got in from the darts – what a fuckin bizarre film – it reminded me of snakes on a plane and needful things – i cant decide whether it was really crap or not – i think its the sort of film you watch when theres bugger all else on tv and its a sunday night, you’ve got a bottle wine and you dont necessarily want to go to bed but you just fancy watching a film

i am absolutely sure there are people who could rip the movie to shreds but if you want a “movie” to escape to then its nots bad – nic cage turning into a flaming pycho from hell was fun though…

im not far off now moving back home to ibiza and revealing the new ibiza site – its gonna be big

anyway, just got this in my email that andy summers is going to appear on jones’ jukebox today which ive just realised is a major bummer as we have a darts match tonight (against the leaders – so its a bit of a major game) – due to the time difference between l.a. and here ‘m not going to be able to catch it… arse..

it should come as no surprise we lost at pool last night – we.are.crap

hot fuzz, golf, ibiza and the problem of being britney spears

how can i even begin to say how absolutely brilliant hot fuzz is… if you liked snakes on a plane, shaun of the dead (& point break or bad boys II – you’ll get the last film references after you see the film) and understand brit humour then this is the film for you… it takes the piss superbly without being too obvious ie airplane, scary movie etc

some parts you just go “wtf” which is always a very good thing in my book – cant praise it enough

played golf today – i havent played for 2 months – in fact i havent hit a ball in er 2 months. our golf society had 2 divisions – gold and silver – one low handicappers, the silver is the, well high handicappers – yours truly is a high handicapper since ive been playing golf for the best part of about 18 months in total. today a milestone. i won the silver division today after we played altorreal and scored 29 points (stableford) – i won a 20€ golf voucher which i will put towards buying a new pitching wedge which i lost at roda golf last nov i think. typically, after doing well, i’m buggering off the mainland in 3 weeks to go to ibiza where they have one course that seems to be more expensive than the ones down here – and everyone knows the courses down here are expensive… good side is since im not going to be here i dont get cut on my handicap in the society

we’re at barrys bar for darts on weds (not going to even bother thinking about the pool tomorrow) – they are a point ahead of us with a game in hand so the highly.trained.athletes need to focus – then another darts game on thurs – so if all things go well.. well lets see….

not many weekends now till i return to ibiza – cant wait to see everyone – not looking forward to the summer though – i’m not a big fan of ibiza in the summer – sorry

ive gone for a null point (said in crap eurovision french accent) for the jack bauer kill counter tonight – but as i pointed out – he’ll probably waste half l.a. now….

cant think of anything techy or interesting links to anything techy etc so – whats the britney haircut all about? she needed the attention and i guess thats a dramatic way of doing it. i do feel sorry sometimes for people like that because they are built up and up by the press (because it help sells their newspapers/tv shows etc) and at the same time they can be spectacularly dumped and deliberatly crapped on by the media for the very same reason that it sells.. ads, papers, increases ratings etc

its very very hard, if not impossible, for anyone who is not a “celeb” to understand what it must be like – i wouldnt have a clue – its very easy to say “i’ll have the problem if you give me the money” – but realistically – how many rich famous celebs dont “fuck up” ?……. (for “fuck up” you could also read “act like everyone else”….)

btw – chelsea dagger is now starting to really get in my head – i take back what i said – i love it – what does surprise me is i havent heard anything from sam roberts, kill hannah etc on indie 103.1 – i hope its not because of an anti canadian bias

i know ive gone on about 102.1 from toronto and 103.1 from l.a. but  on balance i’d rather listen to 103.1

102.1 is a classic commercial radio station – thats has music played by a pc
103.1 is a commercial radio station that has the balls the to play stuff that isnt commercial (still has stuff played by pc – but at 3pm sat i dont think i’d be hearing lou reed on 102.1)

103.1 reminds me of the the early days of xfm before capital took over

have just started watching the series “the wire” – the only thing is that it reminds me of watching 24 for the first time (series 5) and realising ive got 4 more *series* to watch before i get up to date…..

updates for the week since ive been really lax due to a major website i ve started

.tues: pool – have a guess……. i won one and si won – only problem is that we 10 games….
.playing golf on monday for the first time in i guess 8 weeks – i’ll be on the top of my game then…….
.no darts this week as weve rescheduled to next week which means mon golf, tues pool, darts weds & thurs as well as champions league games tues & weds & eufa on thurs – * phew*
.friday i shall be vegging in bed all day
.the darts team who called the game on us and who we beat the other week – weve drawn them in the next round of the cup – we are amused and looking forward to it
.when can we have a standard freakin css system that all browsers work the same with – ive spent HOURS the past 2 days making sure ie7 & ff2 display the same – fookin nightmare – and i havent even checked on ie6 yet since vista has decided it doesnt want me to install standalone version of previous ie.. arse
.did i mention i watched night at the museum? – it was good in a im bored, open a bottle of red, and chill out for 2 hours & get away from the pc…
.ive taken a load of photos and a few vids of kara the dog pre and post haircut on thursdaybefore i go back to ibiza – however vista doesnt like premiere so the vids will have to wait to be uploaded  (have now uploaded a few photos to the kara section)

played poker last night and came second – woke up this morning with a hangover – oh well…

every week i take part in the kill counter and it always brings a smile to my face – and how anyone could not vote for kim bauer in the missb4b contest is beyond me…..

some bullet points since its 2.20am

• the highly.trained.althetes won the darts last night – it was a combined cup and league match – we went into the last game 6-5 up so the worst we could do was draw, but yours truly caned it and we won 7-5, which meant we won the cup & league game and it just left jason (our best player) to play a best of 3 against one of the other side for the individual cup series thing – he won it 2-0 – spot on
• the office – jim doing pavlovs dog was brilliant – sometimes watching the office is like watching a really horrible gruesome operation – its excruiating but you cant look away – last night was another great episode
• 30 rock – this gets more surreal by the week
• why do i always click on conan o brien demonoid links in my rss reader to find out who hes had on when i know i wont download the show cos i cant stand him ?
• i really like the silversun pickups
• heard a mexican duo? called Rodrigo Y Gabriela playing live and being interviewed on indie103.1 earlier and they blew me away – i cant explain it but if you like latin guitar music then this is yer stuff – they are no.1 in ireland, no.1 in uk world music charts etc etc and are playing on the same bill as ratm’s reforming gig – their website - and they were so funny ( and produced by john leckie no less as well)
